Orton-Gillingham Training

Clinical Level
Course Overview

This 100-hour online synchronous and asynchronous course will continue over the span of two years. All coursework and practicum follow the curriculum set forth by the Orton-Gillingham Academy. Topics include:

  • morphology instruction

  • incorporating grammar

  • teaching written language skills

  • case management

  • working with complex student profiles

  • OG for multi-language learners (mll)

  • the reading brain

  • neurobiological underpinnings of dyslexia

Who Should Take This Course?

Participants must be Associate members by July 1, 2026, in order to participate.

Prerequisites
  • Associate Level membership in the Orton-Gillingham Academy

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum)

  • Proof of current background check (as required by the OGA) - a resource can be provided upon request

  • Computer with camera and microphone, as well as high-speed, reliable internet connection

Course Details

  • Dates:

    • Training begins July 14 -15, 2026

    • Additional synchronous sessions will be completed throughout the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic years. 

​

  • Required with this course is a commitment to the 200-lesson practicum, including ten observations by the supervising Fellow and/or Fellow-in-Training.​

​

  • Individuals seeking Certified Level certification through the Orton-Gillingham Academy may apply to the Academy after the successful completion of the 100-hour course and 200-hour Practicum.

Coursework Fee: 

$2,400

​

Practicum Fee: 

$3,000 ($300/observation, paid on a per observation basis)
